In the summer of 1970, I had an internship in the San Francisco Bay area. Each weekend I went on an outing. One day I went to Jamestown, because I had heard that the 1960's comedy "Petticoat Junction" had been filmed there - in particular, that the (in)famous water tower from the program was there.
These pictures are Kodachrome from 47 years ago. I scanned these pictures back in 2003 when I was first starting to convert my film to digital, and had much to learn; I have a better scanner now, which may not last much longer, so I suppose I should re-scan them - but I'm still working on newer media.

http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-458728-1.html caused me to do research which revealed that the water tank has been rebuilt/replaced several times since I was there,
https://railtown1897.wordpress.com/tag/water-tank/ but the one I saw and photographed really was the one used on the TV series. I don't know whether both I and my scanner will last long enough for me to rescan these, so I decided this would be as good a time as ever to post these images.

Love the water tower...that's pretty cool you found it. I loved Petticoat Junction. Thanks for your efforts to show us. I for one appreciate and admire that. Sadly, most the props and objects from what I call the hey day of television (50's & 60's) were discarded. Many of the studio sets were also demolished. Someone could have made millions of dollars if they'd kept them.

Thank you.
Of course, I went through the area just a few years after filming the program ended. The Sierra Railroad's locomotive is claimed to have been in more movies than any other, so I'm guessing movie revenue kept the whole thing running long enough for me to be there. This is a part of California where land is not very valuable, so some properties become "ghost towns" and fade away slowly, but in this case, eventually someone had enough common sense to turn the whole thing into a State Park some years after my visit.
Very interesting and enjoyable series!
Nice shots. Snap Shot has been posting lots of pictures from there.

Yes, those pictures are what inspired me that get out the "Way-Back" machine. Many of the barn-like pictures were taken at the Roundhouse {my image #1}, which obviously gets better care {regular painting} under state stewardship.

Foo - - was hoping for a shot of Meredith MacRae scampering out of the 'bath tub', but was not to be :(
Unbelievable that she passed at only 56 YO :( :(
