My first question on what to buy was answered promptly and included a world of good information....thanks! I had pretty much decided where to purchase my new Nikon D7200, 18-140mm based on a much lower price ($300 lower than closest competition). I decided to check YELP and other review websites. Needless to say, I was surprised. There was much talk about "bait and switch", "gray market", etc. I eleminated that supplier...just too risky. My question is what suppliers should I consider to make sure I am getting what I pay for?

I have been using B&H for over 25 years.

Your best bet would be B+H, Adorama, Cameta, Greentoe, Camera Cottage, Focus Camera.
The closest reliable camera store for me requires two to three hours of driving. So, my first choice is B&H Photo. In addition to the price always being competitive, their customer support team will make sure you are happy with what you buy. A bonus is that they don't charge sales tax in most states.

The ABC of buying is
A Adorama
B B & H
C Cameta
My first choice is B&H.
Focus does carry some gray market.
I use B&H primarily.
But I bought my T1i at Costco, and the H-1 at Wolf I believe. (Wolf isn't around anymore.)

my local store matches legit prices... i buy EVERYTHING but cards there.... Dan's Camera 8 or 9 cameras and lenses at least
If buying online, B&H, or Adorama.
Locally, I drive about 40 minutes to Hunts Photo & Video. Their flagship store is in Melrose, MA.
Hunts stands behind what they sell. I had a problem with a Canon macro lens right from day one. The first lens out of the stockroom was dead right out if the box. They grabbed another one that appeared at first test to work on my camera. Out in the field, it started to malfunction off and on. It took me 3 trips back to the store with the lens for it to finally malfunction in the hands of one of their managers before they agreed to a full refund on that lens due to the malfunction. I turned around and put that refund to use to purchase the Sigma 105 mm lens during one of their 3 day dealer demo and seminars.
Next weekend is their annual Spring Dealer Event! They just sent out the show flyer this week. Check out their website for what's being offered for the show. Sign up for their newsletter mailing list!

Abe's of Maine is radioactive. Stay far away.
Don't forget KEH if you are interested in used equipment.
Skip any gray market, unless you dare, and buy from Authorized dealers, A B C or Sams, Amazon, Costco, etc.
