These were taken today in my back yard with a Nikon D7200 and a Nikon 300mm f2.8 VRII lens.

A delightful set of birds who frequented your back yard. Very nice job on capturing these pretty feathered friends, Bruce. May I suggest some cropping so the birds would take front stage?

Thank you. I cropped for the rule of thirds for composition purpose and I feel that adding environmental elements places the subject in context as where they belong. I know that rules are made to be broken, however I do like environmental context whenever I can get it. I ran the photos through http://everypixel.com/aesthetics and most were in the 100% category with a few at 99% plus.

Great set. The light on the female Cardinal really makes the image. I also like the way the Robin stands out against the background.

Thank you. One of the benefits of the Nikon 300mm f2.8 is the shallow depth of field and the creamy background it can render.

Very nice. It looks like the birds are attracted to the curved branch.

Thanks, actually curved top of bird feeder. They usually take the seed up top and use the metal to help crack open the seed and in some cases they clean their beak on the metal.
