B&H has added freebies to the D500 body deal (Nikon grip, camera bag, memory card, extra battery) and I finally pulled the trigger. Been looking at D500 for a long time. I have used a D7100 for several years and it is time to move up to what I think is a better camera. The brown truck should be here Friday and I will be shooting pics that afternoon. Feel just like kid at Christmas.

Those trucks are not brown! They are Dark Chocolate. Research shows Dark Chocolate to be good for your heart and cardiovascular system. Right ON!!!

That great if one likes a crop sensor camera. I hope you enjoy it and it fulfills your enthusiasm. I'm looking forward to the photos you post.

Not another one of those "look what I bought and is about to be delivered by the brown truck" posts. They suck.

I have a D500. Here's a tip. The video record button can be reprogrammed to execute Mode. I don't shoot video so I reprogrammed mine. You can switch between program, aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual mode easily. Mode is in the cluster of four buttons on the top left of the camera but it's more convenient to have it next to the shutter button. Also, be sure to program the Fn1 and Fn2 buttons.

Bob....I believe that you are a much more advanced photographer than most of us, as evidenced by your question about the dof with the 300mm lens. While you might not have any use for a crop sensor camera (I'm sure you're into some real professional cameras), they do have some great uses for shooting sports, especially. The D500 is especially great considering its AF system and low-light capabilities.

Seems to me that there a least of few pro wildlife photographers that are using the D500. For many of us,full frame is of no particular value and I'll bet that most could look at photos and not be able to discern any difference.

Thanks for the tip CO. Looking forward to learning D500. Could not really afford full frame camera especially already having crop sensor lenses. Keep those tips coming. thanks, Danny Oliver

Dave....I believe Bob is into a level of photography that is beyond the hoi ploi (is "the" redundant?). He may even consider a full frame camera a small format!!

I don't question Bob at all and my post should not be interpreted as such. I'm an advanced novice, whatever that means, and I mostly use my D500 and it does a fine job on whatever I choose to use it for, particularly with wildlife. I also have a six month old D810 and enjoy it as well. I just had to get a full frame....I'm not giving it up! I am of the opinion that the majority of users on here are not pro oriented and could not tell the difference in the vast majority of their pictures.
