I been reading photography digest here every since I became a member and it seems to me that all the discussions are about Nikon are Canon, are pictures posted using Nikon are Canon cameras, I been a photographer for 13 years now and I usually do weddings and HeadShots and I switched from Canon 5D Mark II selling all my Canon gear and went to Sony a7ii and Sony a7rii and I love both cameras and they are not as nearly as heavy as the Canon gear was and the images are beautiful. I read once where someone had an issue importing the raw files into LR CC? I have LR 5 and LR CC and I've never had a issue importing the raw files to eather program.
Back to my question, does anyone use Sony? Perhaps it's just (Sony a7) such a awesome camera no one has issues with it.? I'll post some pictures next time. Thanks

Many photographers on this site use Sony, and many do state their preference to the brand. Perhaps you just aren't reading those threads. :)

I use an RX10 for everyday photography, plus its little bro RX100 as a pocket camera and a Canon 5D3 for specific photo shoots - love them all and often use a mix of shots from them when compositing.
Whatever you find is comfortable to use and gives you the result you want is the camera for you. It's personal. Knowing your camera well is the important thing.

Due to advanced cancer I was compelled to abandon my large format cameras and move to digital. On the recommendation of my printing mentor I purchased a Sony a7RII. I have always been partial toward German optics so the availability of Carl Zeiss lenses made it an easy sell. The combination of the Sony 41mp sensor and the resolution of the Zeiss lenses in some ways mimics the kinds of imagery captured with my Linhof and Rodenstocks kit. Additionally, the use of Zerene Focus Stacking software allows me to use my lenses at their optimum apertures which produces images not attainable with a single exposure on sheet film. I have several recent posts requesting plant identification and you can see the results that I am getting. Excellent equipment and meticulous technique shows in the print.
Best to you, Fred

I have used Sony for years. Right now I have a Sony A99 (which I rarely use anymore...just too heavy!); a Sony NEX 7, and a Sony a7R. Get super photos from all three. A couple of the photos made in Africa using the NEX 7 with a zoom lens have been printed on 40" x 40" on canvas and the quality is great!

I use and prefer Sony, though I have some Nikons and a Leica M240. I usually grab the A7r or the A7rii going out the door, sometimes with Zeiss glass and sometimes with Nikon glass and adapter. I love constant live view and focus peaking.

When I bought the A7 II it came with a free copy of Capture One Pro. That offer might still be available for your Sony cameras.

I like Capture One enough that I now also use it for my Nikon images but that meant I had to buy a copy - not cheap but I no longer need Lightroom or Adobe. With Capture One you can use either catalogs or sessions which are more portable and easier to manage.

Another option is Picture Window Pro. It's a little old fashioned but it is a mature product and it's free. I can use it with both Sony and Nikon raw files although I prefer Capture One. I use it mostly for scanned TIFF images.

I doubt that the Zeiss optics are made in Germany. I remember a few years ago when Kyrocera made Contax brand cameras with Zeiss glass, the article stated that the Zeiss engineers optimized the qualities of Japanese glass. Also Zeiss has a presence in Japan and probably oversees QT. I saw a photo once inside the Cosina factory that showed a Carl Zeiss MTF machine. Like most manufactured goods today there is definitely an international mix there. But I think that's OK. Production methods are so much more advanced than say 50 or 60 years ago.

I recently traded up to the A7ll from a NEX-7, and am in the process of collecting lenses to match the Full Frame sensor. An emphasis on dynamic range is what propelled me to make the change, as I use my photography for oil painting. The only downside is that the equipment being larger, it is harder to look like part of the crowd for street photography!

I own and use a Sony A7RII, a Canon 6D and a 7D. I use mostly the Sony and 6D, about equal amount of time. The 7D I use for sports and BIF.
The Sony with the same equivalent lens is NOT noticeably lighter than the 6D, like many DSLR haters would lead you to believe. I love all three bodies for different reasons. If I any shooting with a manual lens, I will user my Sony. The auto focus and shutter lag sucks on the Sony. If it weren't for that my Sony would get lots more use. Anytime I need fast auto focus, i will go for either Canon. Image quality ood three Sony and 6D, are very comparable and quite excellent. The 7D has great image quality but not quite as good, very close though. I wish I had waited for the Sony A9. They have apparently conquered the pitfalls of the A7 series. The menu system on all Sony's is very, very poor.

I am a Sony user, I date back to their roots (Minolta) I currently have and use a99ll, a5000, and an a65. I have used the a7rll. I never suffered from the common photographer aliments, the Nikon syndrome, or Canon croup.. I was vaccinated on Zeiss lenses at an early age in the 1960s and glad I was. I have been an instructor of Photography for decades and have seen and played with all the brands out there. In this computer age, there are no bad cameras. Each has good lenses and bad. Many on this site badmouth kit lenses. But you know, most camera owners do not any larger than 4x6in if the even have prints made. I defy one to tell the difference in prints between a $2000 lens and a $200 kit lens in a 4x6 print. In a way, it is like the difference between driving a Kia vs a Mercedes Benz, the will both go down the highway at 55mph and get you where your going. It is all personal preference. I shoot a lot with my travel camera Canon SX50. I like it for traveling because it is sealed, all in one, light, and if it gets damaged, no real loss (it is a factory refurbished under $200). I also have a collection of older (1970s Rollie, Exacta) lenses I use on the a5000. I am perfectly happy shooting professionally with kit lenses and older Minolta lenses if the final product will be used on the internet or pamphlets. Most times I shoot in JAPEG rather than RAW simply because I am old school and shoot the photo correctly in the beginning. Nine times out of ten, the client wants the final image in JAPEG anyway. They are all just tools. It is the photographers vision that makes the photo. By the way, according to IR news, Sony is about to eclipse Nikon on sales courtesy of the a7 family, a5000/6000 family, a99ll, and the RX family. photo, a5000 Tamron 70-210mm. Happy Shooting

I have a Sony a7 with the 55mm f1.8 lens and the WX350 p&s. I traded a bunch of micro 4/3 gear for the full frame and I have been amazed at the difference. Being on a limited budget Have accumulated 5 Canon fd film lenses and a Canon T50 film camera. My last is a wounded Samsung NX30 with a small assortment of lenses. And I am an amateur photographer. The Sony is my go to camera and continues to amaze me as I am learning how to use it. UHH has been instrumental in inspiring me to learn how to use my gear. Thank you all...
