Just curious dose anyone ever use HDR
Yes, but not in-camera. I take automatically bracketed photos then use LR to polite put them together.
Yes. I use Photomatix Pro HDR. They recommend that you bracket three exposures each one stop apart for most scenes. For extremely high contrast scenes, they recommend five exposures each one stop apart. Photomatix Pro can even work with a single image. It splits the single image into two exposures and then does tone mapping with the two exposures. It's remarkable how much detail it can extract from a single RAW file.
Some cameras have a built-in HDR function. I've tried it before but I thought the results were poor.

Right. I could never see any difference using in-camera HDR.

All the time. I typically use Photomatix or NIK HDR FX Pro. I have HDR function built into my D5200 but have yet to use it. Using software (in my opinion) gives me much more control over the final outcome and lets me choose whether I want a "mild or wild" final product.
Rather than traditional HDR, which I feel sometimes averages everything out and so lowers the contrast overall, I use this technique to accomplish the purpose of HDR. I take my RAW file and adjust the exposure to show all the detail I want in the shadows, and let the highlights go. Then I process another version with all the highlight details and the shadows too dark. I then past the second version over the first and use the erase tool in Photoshop on a low opacity on the top layer to bring out the shadow detail in the lower layer.

Used to do it a lot, but with the newer cameras with their expanded dynamic range, not as much.

It is very rare, but I do on occasion! I actually like the in-camera HDR.

HDR is most effective in post. That said Sony has a 6 stop HDR on board but, HDR continues to be most effective in post.
Sure, in high contrast situations I take 3-5 bracketed exposures and combine them in Lightroom.
I have to say since I began using NIK, I find myself doing more HDR. Much better results than either native PS or LR. I do some product shots for a shop that sells vintage audio gear, and it's a great way to add depth. Especially when bringing in complex lighting isn't practical. I do try to make it believable. Not really a fan of the garish HDR shots that the masses seem to like.

Yes but not the in camera which is weak and the output is jpg. Much prefer LR and the output is a raw file, .png, allowing for some outstanding postprocessing(and I don't mean an HDR that looks overbaked)
All the time along with focus stacking and 3D
