Yes, several tribes have gotten very upset over losing large portions of their reservations to monuments.

Do you mean the likes of Cliven Bundy? He's (and his ilk) been grazing his(their) livestock on OUR public lands as if it were his(their) private property for a long time.

This makes me sick. I was just at Carrizo Plain during the wildflower superbloom. It was spectacular. And there is more to having land protected than allowing people access. We have lots of species of animals and plants that are losing habitat. Preserving larger areas makes their existence a little more assured. And for those that don't care if an animal or plant goes extinct and need some human 'gain' as a reason to preserve them, among other things, we get many medicines or clues to medicines from other species. Once that species is gone, so is the possible resource for those medicines.
