Is it ok to use a step-up ring to attach a CPL & 6ND filter or just buy new for the smaller (43mm) lens? Any problems?

A step-up ring will be fine.

OK to use the ring, but that said, you will need a new lens hood to mount on it for the focal length of the lens. What lens has a 43 mm filter diameter ? M4/3rds lens ? 43 mm filters are pretty inexpensive though.

No, go for it, that's the perfect scenario to use a step-down-ring!

You will likely have to use several rings to span such a large difference.

You'll need two rings. 43s cover all popular sizes up to 72mm. 77s go from 49 to 72mm. You can choose any combination you wish.

I wish I had learned years ago that I could use one large filter on all my lenses. Step-up rings are great.

I always have bought the filters to suit the largest size lens of my arsenal of lenses and step down rings to suit the lenses that were smaller. Saves a bundle!

You need a step-up ring to fit a larger filter on a smaller diameter lens.

The rings stick and can be very difficult to remove. If you get one get a set of removal wrenches. By time you buy the ring and wrenches you are close to the price of a 43mm filter.

Yes, I have come to that conclusion also as I would need to purchase Zume adapters also to eliminate any problems with sticking threads!

Sticking rings, filters, lens hoods, &c., are usually only a problem for those who don't know how to handle them. They should never be over-tightened. Fine threads such as 0.5 and 0.75mm pitch require especial care to prevent cross-threading - they are not intended for the ham-handed. The magnetic holders I've seen are prone to being knocked off, even inside a camera bag. Threaded lens attachments will always be more secure.
