A Great Blue Heron from today.

Maybe one of my best photos of this large bird. The skies were cloudy today until some sunshine
broke through in the afternoon.
Hand held. 800mm photo. Distance was about 125-150 feet.
Canon 5Dsr - Canon 400 II DO f4 - Canon 2.0x III - 1/400 - f/9 - ISO @ 1250.
Always amazes me when you state it is hand held.
The detail in the download is just superb.
Really sharp.
Well taken.
Very nice image! Aren't these amazing creatures?
At a nearby wetlands preserve, I waited 40 minutes while this awesome predator remained perfectly motionless waiting for some unwary fish to venture too close. A slight movement of his head alerted me that lunch had arrived. With a single thrust he brought up the fish and graciously turned toward me in the sunshine so I could photograph his trophy. That made the 40 minute wait worthwhile. Taken with a Canon T2I and the Canon 400mm 5.6 lens.
I'm new to the forum and learning how to post pictures. I want to post my heron picture again so it can be downloaded if anyone wants to see the detail. Thanks everyone for your patience.
Regis, I wholeheartedly agree that this is an outstanding Great Blue shot! I prefer them when their necks have that beefy look. This pose is great and you have made an excellent capture!

Regis your hand held images always amaze me, this is no exception. Just wonderful detail, exposure and lighting.

It is not considered proper to post your image in another persons post on this forum. I am only telling you this because I see you are new to UHH and obviously do not know this yet. Thought I'd tell you "nicely" before someone else got angry with you.
That said, I liked your shot too but it deserves a post of it's own.
