Oh dear, am I confusing it again.

"mould"... nice double entendre!

But I never enjoyed the screeching sounds of Iron Maiden.

Oh dear, am I confusing it again?

I'm not a big fan of the historical present tense. I see it too often in documentaries which act like WW II is still going on.

That's not a comma - it's an apostrophe to indicate the possessive of the noun Britain. As several others have pointed out, if you had known who May was there would have been no confusion whatsoever. If, as you say, you try to avoid the news then I suggest not reading the Washington Post or any other newspaper since to the best of my knowledge they all seem to be full of news.

Unfortunately it seems as though most 'newspapers' have turned into mostly pages and pages of opinions.

She's too new for me to know her name, especially with the wording of that headline, and "may" has too many uses in English. "Churchill," "Brown," and "Blair," I would know right away.

So just how "old" does she have to be for you to comprehend? The headline makes perfect sense to just about anyone with 2nd grade competence in English and your post is silly.

Looked pretty straight forward to me, especially if you read the sentence in lower case.

When headlines are in all caps and devoid of punctuation, getting the meaning can be a challenge.

This poor guy is getting walloped for grammatical errors and decreased interest in current affairs. He is simply making an observation without proof reading. Too many of us are posturing; using this opportunity to strut a little knowledge and some of the comments are pedantic.

However, JerryC41, when you casually confirm you don't have much interest in politics and current world affairs, you are chumming the waters for the sharks!

One of my favorite headlines read like this: "70,000 BC Teachers Strike". It was about British Columbia teachers going on strike.
I rewrote the article to read "Wilma Flintstone led a large group of teachers carrying stone tablets and demanding higher wages."

So did Wilma get the raise? You can't just not tell us.
