Color ATIK Infinity - Color Balance?

Hi all you color Infinity users.

Does anyone have a foolproof method of correcting the Color Infinity's green color cast, per image??

I know the sensor has a RGGB Bayer filter and inherently captures more green but I would really like it to downplay this a bit at the point of capture, i.e.: in the Infinity software...

And no, the weather has not allowed me a shot at the sky since I acquired the Color Infinity, so I'm shooting terrestrial targets and coming up to speed on the camera.

Clear skies!

Did you try adjusting the green slider? You can pick the red, or blue, or green color and adjust as needed. Most of the time it seems to be too yellow.

I have selected and adjusted all the colored circles in the lower left corner of the Infinity software (Offset and Saturation) but have yet to get anything remotely natural and this is even with a Kolari Color Correction filter in place, where one should be able to get at least true Red, Green and Blue off a standard color chart.

I've also tried the Auto White Balance setting; even worse!

I did notice a yellow cast with both Ha and IR Pass filters. But the green is most annoying. With all my other OSC cameras the color cast was in the red end of the spectrum.

Very frustrating.

It must be Aurora Borealis again! Actually I have never encountered a green image like this. Don't know what is causing it. I also have done very little terrestrial imaging with the camera, and I do recall it being somewhat yellow and pushing towards red. You must have gotten the new GGGB Bayer Matrix.

Just checked and terrestrial images I once took with my Atik OSC camera are not on my computer, so I must have discarded them. Can't redo them just now. Been up on the roof dealing with some dry rot issue on a fascia board and only came down to rest. (I hate dry rot even more than I hate green images!)

You know, the pink moon is because of the April flowers.
So maybe this is caused because the Moon is made of green cheese.

You were doing fine before you went whacking skunks.
Maybe you didn't get rid of the skunk juice that soaked in?

I have encountered this with my sbig cameras most notably with the 8300c sensor. I do not know the Atik software but I know there is a free plugin for Photoshop called HLVG or hasta la vista green. It is based on PixInsight's SCNR Average Neutral algorithm. I much prefer it's outcome within PI itself but the plugin works fairly well also. It can be located here, http://www.deepskycolors.com/archive/2010/04/26/hasta-La-Vista-Green.html

Hopefully this helps,
Matthew

I use the HLVG, works great, but this image seems like it would be related to a camera setting. (Just my opinion, not from experience)

I use levels to adjust the color balance and HLVG near the end of my processing to remove and minor hints of green.

Way too messed up to fix. If you have that image as a raw, then you have a chance to correct the white balance to fix it. Just use the eyedropper and select the snow. It should correct it. But if all you have is a jpg, chances are you aren't going to be able to easily correct it.
