Today she came for breakfast

It's not the first time by any means but today she behaved in a totally different manner. Usually when I go out in to the garden to put food oiut she runs and hides behind the bushes at the end of the garden buyt this time she ran but didn't hide.

When she got to the food she seemed to be stuffing her mouth as full as possible, at times walking away but then returning to try to stuff more in. She didn't finish the plate but went away with her mouth full. Unusually on this occasion she actually turned her back on me. Usually she is very aware so that when the lens of the camera touches the glass of the window she is aware of the "click". She must be growing in confidence.

She has now worked out how to navigate the neighbour's fence. She runs the length of the wall to where there is a gap.

I have never seen her looking pregnant but I'm wondering if she's feeding cubs? Enlarge the first photo and you vcan see her teats.

Once again no apologies for the below par images. They're the best I could do under the circumstances.

It's likely that she is feeding pups!

See if she comes back later in the day for an additional feeding.

If she's trying to feed a litter, one stop at your buffet won't be enough to keep the litter fed.

You may have become a friend for life!

I was perhaps 8, lived in rural Michigan. One morning there was a small red dog that retreated into the culvert under our driveway. I got some food from the house fed it from my hand and we chatted for a while. The off he went into the field across the street. I didn't know it was a fox. Thank you for your photo documentation reminding me of that brief encounter.

I especially like #2 where she is looking at you and tilting her head in thought.

Great moment! It appears to be a grey fox, not red one. I had a gray that would set and watch me mow grass. As long as I kept moving, no problem, stop and it would leave. Greys are active in the day time, reds are more nocturnal. Some greys will even climb trees and lay on limbs to keep cool in the heat. Mine, he or she would eat chicken put of my hand. Not the smartest thing to do, but so want. Turned out it was a she as she brought 3 kits with her on several days. This went on for one summer and never saw them again.

Thank you. I'm convinced that she's got cubs since she is appearing now twice a day for food; for breakfast and dinner.
