Scanning Slides

I have been given the opportunity to scan in about a 1,000 to 2,000 slides to be organized and reprinted in booklets in different subjects.

What I am asking, is there a suitable way to do the scanning and cataloging these slides?

And if you can, suggest the best equipment to use.

Thank you for your help.

Do you have a scanner now? A couple of days ago, someone posted about a slide scanner that he liked. If no one else chimes in, I'll find the make and model when I get my computer running tomorrow.

Yes, that's the one that someone else mentioned last week.

Talk about scanning slides, I have an Epson scanner that will scan slides. I have very old slides dated back early, early 50's. When I hold them to the light to see them they look fine, but when I scan them they come out blurry. Does anyone know the cause of this?

I suspect it is problem with the placement of the slides on the scanner. Do the slides go into a holder?

I suggest checking the scanner software settings. I haven't used my Epson film scanner for a while but as I recall, there was a setting for slide or negative, type of slide, preliminary or final scan, and number of times a slide is scanned to create the final digital image.
