On 4/18/2017 Union Pacific #844 is headed to Boise, Idaho for a Saturday afternoon Sunday display April 22 & 23. returns to Cheyenne on April 24 from Boise. If I put the schedule on here admin will move it since he thinks links are not photography discussions. It starts on April 18 at Cheyenne and has stops in Laramie, Hanna, Rawlins, Wamsutter, & Rock Springs. April 19 leaves Rock Springs and goes thru Green River, Granger & Kemmerer, WY. Then thru Montpelier, Soda Springs, and stops in Pocatello, Id for display April 20. Leaves Pocatello on Friday and goes to Minidoka and Gooding where it is on display till Saturday morning Apr 22 when it then goes to Glenns Ferry, Orchard, Nampa, and arrives in Boise at 5:00 P.M. It says Sunday and leaves Monday at 8:00 A.M. and retraces the route down to Pocatello, Id. From Pocatello it goes down into Utah to Cache Junction, Brigham City & stops for display at Ogden on Wednesday Apr. 26. It leaves Ogden on Apr 27 and goes thru Evanston, Wy and then back thru the route from Granger back to Cheyenne.

I saw the 844 at the 150th year (of UP) visit to Sacramento. It was a beautiful locomotive then, and I believe UP has done some work on it since. The 80" drivers can push it over 100mph (if the road can take it). Well worth a side trip to see it.

I'd sure like to be on that trip but I can't make it this time. Says they'll only take thirty minutes from Cheyenne to Laramie which is fifty miles. It's gonna be scootin' pretty good. I want to see it doing that whether I get any shots of it or not.
