These shots of the Alps were taken through the planes window as we crossed over them. St3V3M (Steve) inspired me to give it a try.
Just posting as a fun experience.

That's ok. It is not every day I fly over the Alps.

Did you just return from Europe, Frank? Perhaps a travelogue/photo story series? I'd love to hear about - and see - your travels.

I know you mentioned posting just for "fun experience" (excellent you got to fly over the Alps in daylight!), but there are possibilities for a bit more drama too. This is just a Chromebook app edit - yeah, it's flipped

Does excite me. I've flown over the Alps and, while you will never get a really sharp photo out of a 4 inch thick plastic window, they are neat. I'm curious about the third photo. It seems much clearer than the other two that have a brownish tint. Wonder what that was? Also fascinating to me is the clouds in the third shot. The valley on the top of the frame is completely socked in while the mountains seem to be keeping the clouds from flowing down into the valley at the bottom. I also like the heavy snow cover that dissipates as you lose altitude. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed them.

Thanks Linda for stopping by. Yes I went to Italy for 12 days. It was a wonderful time. My postings are always open for views to come up with their own interpretations. I did take many shots but have to get to edit, them etc. I took a lot of shots of doors. That was for me, and would not expect anyone to get excited over them. I will be posting some of my shots for CC.

Thanks for commenting. If i remember correctly the third shot was taken as the plane banked slightly. That is why you don't see the sky or horizon. To me the third shot is the best of the three. I had my camera with me. I was not going to stow it. My wife was in the window seat. I was in the middle so it all came down to me grabbing my camera. I used the live view to that the shots. Just picture me extending my arms, placing the camera with with the hood on and planting it against the window, hoping for the best.

I've never seen the Alps Frank, but I can appreciate you posting yours for us to see. The closest I have come to the Alps was Marseille in the early to mid 70's. I wish I had an interest in photography then as I do now. Looking forward to seeing more from your trip.

Thanks Dave. It was my first trip to Europe. The whole trip took over 11 hours including and hour and a half layover in Paris. There is only some much reading sleeping and moving watching I could stand. lol. Most of the trip was under the cover of night. So when the Alps popped up I was ready.

Since I have never seen the Alps before, I truly appreciate their grandeur and enjoyed your shots. No.s 2 and 3 turned out pretty sharp considering what you had to shoot through. Well done.

Not to worry, they excite me enough for several people. Yes, they're through plane windows and all that, but I love photos from the sky. I love looking down from planes, it is one of the most amazing things in the world for me. Our ancestors would have found it beyond belief and some of them would have given all they owned for one adventure such as we take for granted when flying.

SO: I like them, particularly the last one.

I figured who knows when the next time I will be over the Alps. It was a shot I had to try. With the lens hood against the window I was hoping for the shutter to be fast enough to take care of the slight vibration I felt as you touch the window.
Thanks for taking the time to comment

Thanks Min. Heck with my ancestors I don't fly very often, but i am still amazed at seeing the earth from 10 or 20 thousand feet. I too like the last one the best. I never did get a chance to thank the pilot from banking the plane so I could capture that shot.

As I've spent most of my youth within direct view of the Alps, I can certainly appreciate these images. The first one is unfortunately a bit fuzzy, but the other two are just about as good as one can expect when photographing from the window seat of an airliner. Nice views with a little symmetry going on in the compositions.
