These were taken also at Robert K. Rees Memorial Park Sunday morning.
There are two snags almost at the water line. As we walked by them, I could hear a noise like scratching coming from the snags. Watched for a while until a woodpecker flew out and left the area. I went back later and sat on a picnic table bench and waited. Took about forty-five minutes until I got to see this beautiful bird.
These are some of the nicest, most interesting shots of a Red-bellied woodpecker I've seen. Well done!
Thank you very, very much. Your kind comments are very much appreciated.
I was able to shoot these from only 30' away, while seated on the bench of a picnic table and had great light and a clear blue sky. Having a photogenic woodpecker didn't hurt.
It was a beautiful morning, a chill in the early morning and warming quickly to the mid 70's - I could have sat there all day even without the woodpecker.
45 minutes well spent, super set Larry. What a beautiful bird.
Agreed. I'm sure that you would like that place - perhaps on your next holiday here?
BTW, I have some photos from the rookery that I haven't finished editing. The great egrets are gorgeous this time of year. I will get them done and posted ASAP.
