Is anyone using the latest model of the Apple MacBook Air or if it will work well for Lightroom and Photoshop? I'm currently using an HP 15 Notebook PC and it's extremely slow. When I edit photos on the HP and view them on my iPhone the color is off.

On iotechie.com the MacBook Pro has a rating of 94 and the MacBook Air has a rating of 96. I wonder why? The Air is more in my budget.

How late are you talking? I have a late 2015 MacBook Pro that runs Lightroom just fine. The only problem with it is storage.

Of course they do, Adobe, first and foremost, is a iOS company. What they will not do is run very fast, given the processing and memory needed to manipulate a 50 Mp RAW file. Many Professionals are abandoning Apple for Windows machines. A sign of the times; Apple cares more about styling than performance.

That's what someone told me at BestBuy. The Air will run slow. That's one of the big reasons I'm looking for another computer. They recommend the MacBook Pro. If I use Dropbox then I wouldn't really need to worry about storage right? Jethro779, do you have any issues with the speed on the 2015 model?

My basic use of the MacBook Pro is to sort and delete the bad shots. I use an external 1tb g Drive mobile w/Thunderbolt to hold my shots till I get home. The few that I do process to post on Facebook process quickly. I am shooting with a Nikon D7100 & D610.

I have a macbook pro mid 2014, I have Fastraw Viewer, PS5, DxO, Luminar, On1, Nik and other photographic software on it. I can be processing up to 1000 images and tend to batch process on the DxO, it takes time, but works. I sometimes use the hard disk and sometimes a LaCie external disk if travelling. Wouldn't suggest trying to use more than one piece of photographic software at a time, particularly if batch processing.

The morons that talk about pros abandoning Apple are the same ones that believe Canon is superior to Nikon. Nothing is further from the truth. My AirMacs run fine with LR and PS. Heck, even the 2006 MacBook Pro will run them both. Check out the photographers on CreativeLive.com and see the Apple and AirMac parade. I have yet to see a PC Microsoft machine. Pros leaving Apple is nothing but BS PROPAGANDA.

PS/LR run just fine on my 2016 Macbook Pro. With the higher resolution camera's, 16 GB Ram is more or less a requirement, and with the Macbook Pro, 16 is standard. I used external drives for my photos, I simply don't want to clog up my computers hard drive. I have two external drives, a 500 mb SSD which is great for photos I am post processing now, and I have an 8 tb drive for long term storage of photos and all my other files. This external drive is a network drive, which I can access from any computer. I also have a 3tb drive on which I double backup my files. By the way, I had a hard drive crash on my IMac a few weeks back. I had a new drive installed in it, but lost everything on that drive. Or not, as it was backed up using time machine. I did have to reload my software, which took a few hours, but not that hard to do.
