Until I had to have my laptop serviced, I was able to view two forms of exif onscreen when I downloaded photos. Can anyone tell me how to get it back?

What operating system?
What did you do in order to see EXIF?
Are you aware of Phil Harvey's exiftool ?

With Firefox, I use the older version of Exif Viewer.
I do not believe that the current program is the same as mine: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/exif-viewer

I'm not sure about that but there are many viewers which give you partial EXIF data. Phil Harvey's exiftool gives it all.
There is a data field in the EXIF which gives the version number.

Read through the links provided and choose which one you wish to DL and install.

Viewing exif data is a software issue. Laptop repair sounds like a hardware fix. Most image editing softwares offer a means to view exif data. Check the 'preferences' section of your software, there might be an unchecked box.

In PSE: under Information there are two versions available for Metadata, which I believe is their name for EXIF. One is a basic version. To get to the longer version, you click on the box on the right of the info with more lines on it.

Thanks to all who replied. Turned out to be a disabled extension in Chrome.

You seem to have found the problem...I use FastStone Image Viewer/Editor and all I need to do is move my cursor to the right of my screen and all the EXIF info I ever need appears. Saves having to find an external source.
