B&H has these brand new for $169.95.

Thanks jesnear for your help. B&H sells the lens new for $216.95. I see they are offering an "open box" unit for $169.95 Open box units are returned
purchases, so in effect used. I would definitely stack my 50mm up to any returned purchased. Thanks again jesnear.

For the record; Returned items are used, "Open box" items are usually things like store display.
at least in reputable stores of which B&H is one.
