My wife and I are going there for a week in early June. We are probably going to rent a van to drive around to see all we can and photo all I can. So if you've been there i would like to know were to go to see all we can.

Rick,
I was there for 3 days in 2015. I rented a car and drove from Reykavik to Aureyri stopping everywhere in between to take pictures. Iceland is a beautiful country with great landscape photography. I would definitely bring a tripod and some filters if you have them. The Puffin are still in Iceland in June, I suggest you get some shots of them if you can. June is not the right time of the year for the Northern lights, who knows you might get lucky.
Feel free to visit my website below and check out my Iceland gallery. Message me if you have any questions. Have a great time.

Definitely visit Jokulsarlon Glacier and drive out to the beach to watch the icebergs float up on shore.
All the waterfalls you can. (Drive on the road to Hok and you will encounter many.)
The lava formations right along the road.
Daughter and I spent 10 days there last year. We are going back again for another 10 days in august. You'd think 10 days was enough time to see everything you'd want to see, but it's not. As for places to see, which direction to go to see the most for the time you have, I suggest you travel south east. There is no shortage of waterfalls, many can be seen from Rte 1, the main road, you can also get to the golden circle from there, Vik and the black beaches, glacier lagoon, several national parks, volcano craters, the abandoned airplane, geysers, so many hiking trails, so many places to simply stop along the road to photograph. It will take you so much longer than you could ever imagine, especially when looking for magical places to shoot. We have researched Iceland extensively and if you want more information and tips on how to save time and money, feel free to contact me 1kenwilson24@gmail.com

Can't forget those hot springs, the Blue Lagoon is the best known, and also the most expensive, $45 US is the least you will pay, and they also suggest you make reservations.
Considering that fuel was an average of $7.45 per gallon last year, one might consider staying away from gas guzzling vehicles and stick with a sub compact unless you are carrying tons of equipment or you are sleeping in it. If you wish to go onto primitive roads, then consider a 4x4. Anything larger than a sub-compact vehicle are very expensive to rent there as well.
Iceland is not an inexpensive place to visit, but if you are a photographer or lover of natural beauty, it is so worth it.

Try the search function at the top of the page. There are a lot of topics containing 'Iceland' some of which might be of use to you. Some won't be.
My best advice on an Iceland trip...DO NOT EAT THE GREENLAND SHARK!

I went in June. The temperature was about 50 F and the sun never set. The weather was mostly cloudy but the scenery is spectacular with many photo opts. The Gullfoss waterfall was really something. Check out the glaciers as well. Have a good time.
Ugh. I second that. Do not eat fermented shark. I tried it. Best described as eating a slimy sponge soaked in ammonia. The taste, the smell, the fumes from belching it back up stays with you for hours. So not worth it, even for bragging rights. (Photo with Icelandic flag sticking in it)
However, minke whale is awesome. Taste and texture is like fine beef. Even my vegan daughter tried it and thought it was awesome.
Vestrahorn, Diamond Beach, GoĆ°afoss, Vestrahorn, Aldeyjarfoss, Kirkjufell, Arnarstapi, Hraunfossar and anywhere there are waterfalls. My daughter was over there in late Feb and these are the destinations she has been to. Her pics are kind of monochromatic due to the continuous over cast and lack of green, but you should run into more color in May. It did clear up enough for one good night of the Aurora. Very windy, cold, lots of sand flying. She was with a group that went over there specifically to get the Aurora. She said to take some good insulated hiking boots, lots of socks, good gloves, a very good wind proof rain jacket, and layered clothing. Your lenses will be subjected to airborne dirt and sand, so take a good lens cleaning kit with blower, ND and polarized filters. Good tripod and polarized sunglasses are a must. Hope this helps.
I was on your website and your photos are superb. I'm going to Iceland this june. What do you suggest I bring for clothing? Thanks
Excellent ideas.
We went at the end of summer, most was still green, yet 3rd day in we got hit with a blizzard, was able to drive out of it within a little while and back into milder weather . Was the oddest thing I've ever experienced while driving in such a small area. But like was mentioned before, wind is a constant.
