I have only seen these from a distance in the past. This one was preoccupied trying to catch it's breakfast at Tigertail Beach on Marco Island last week. A rather chaotic style of fishing compared to other Egrets and Herons which basically involves chasing around after the fish as opposed to stalking them. Fun to watch.

What a pleasure to see. I have only been able to get distant (and not good) shots of this bird. It is nice to know that it can be done! Excellent series!
