65 today. Senior Discounts ?
I am 65 years old today. An official Senior Citizen. All together now - HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHIL !!!!!
First thing I am going to do tomorrow is get my Senior 'Charlie Card' for half price fares on the subway. I already got my Golden Pass from the National Parks Service for free access to National Parks - great for the beaches on Cape Cod. I have been offered the occasional unsolicited senior coffee at Dunkin Donuts for a couple of years now, much to my indignation. Now I will demand it. Also looking forward to senior haircuts at the barber even though I still have a full head of hair, thank God.
Do you have any other good senior discounts I should know about? Everything I save is going into my GAS can towards an A7Rii.
BTW - My good wife of 40 years is taking me to Umbria in Italy next week for my Birthday. Hope to get some post worthy shots to share. It will be great to get away from this weekends sleet and snow.

Yes, happy birthday. Hope the weather is kind to you in Italy so you can get some good shots.
Happy birthday Phil . Enjoy Umbria. it is on our bucket list for this year if possible alongst Tuscany as well.
Welcome to the geezer club! Remember the line in Citizen Kane: Old Age is the only disease that you don't look forward to being cured of. But George Burns once said: You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old.
Long John Silver started giving me their senior discount when I was in my early 50's, because I had white hair by then. There are a few other fast food restaurants that have senior discount programs, it never hurts to ask, all they can do is say no.
Some department stores (Shopko) have a 20% senior discount on certain days of the week.
Many movie theatres have a lower senior price.
Well you beat me. I turn 65 on April 9. Happy birthday. No senior discounts here that I am aware of. Gary

20 years ago I was in Florida (0rlando area) for my 55th bd. Was visiting my aunt & uncle who told me Florida recognizes age 55 as senior. Sure enough, got a 10% discount for breakfast at a local restaurant.😎 Here in Maryland Bob Evans restaurants do not offer a senior discount. Instead, they have a "senior" section on the menu with lower priced selections. Big deal! You get smaller servings.

According to the manual the first 65 are the toughest, the next 65 are a piece of cake! So far-so good for me, hope it works for you. I am extremely jealous, no one took me to Italy for my birthday, or for any other reason. It is still a fun place to go. Do so with hopes of capturing the trip of a life time. Let us know if you decide to stay the entire 65 years, we'll forward the mail. Ciao Baby!
Have an exceptionally happy birthday, Phil. As others have noted, we all envy your plans for Italy. AARP has some helpful features in return for a basic membership as well as a plethora of discounts. Maybe we can band together and get B&H Photo and Adorama to offer discounts to "seasoned" citizens. /Ralph, age 71
Buy the white buck shoes and move to Fl. Dinner is at 4!
