Got out one of my old lenses today to play with, the Nikkor 55mm f1.2. Still takes pretty good pictures on my D500. Though it struck me as a little strange to put a manual focus lens on a camera with such a sophisticated auto focus system.
I don't remember if I did the AI conversion on this one or if it was the previous owner, but it's the old version 55 f1.2. It sharpens up pretty good when you stop down to 2.8 (seems funny to say that too). I got my usual test victim, er subject, to sit for me briefly, my daughter.
It's a little soft at f1.2 and has about a quarter inch or less depth of field, but that's the trade off for serious lens speed. Then I went outside for a few shots. Though I only posted one of them. Hope you enjoy the old "fasty".
P.S. I did not sharpen any of the images.

Thanks Jim! It's a fun lens just to look through off the camera.

As you can see the rear element on this lens is huge and could not have been made any bigger. This lens was made from 1972 to 1974 and there is no rubber or plastic on it, it's all metal and glass. I weighed it including the B&W 52mm filter and it's 15.5oz or 439.4 Grams. That's just a half ounce short of a one pound lens! Compare that to my newer 50mm f1.4 lens that is 8.64oz which is also a fast lens.
