iMac Printing Problem

I am having a problem with color when sending photos to to the printer from an iMac Retina. I have calibrated the iMac with an x-rite i1|Display Pro. I edit in Lightroom and Photoshop. The photo looks perfect on my iMac screen but yellow colors on the screen turn out dark gold when printed. It makes no difference whether I have the printer or Photoshop manage the colors. I get the same result no matter which printer (Epson or Canon Pixma Pro 10) I send the photo to. I've tried correcting the problem using some of the controls in Canon's Print Shop Pro plugin, but created other problems in the process. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

When you let Photoshop manage colors, do you make sure to turn color management to >Off<?

As others have said, the most common mistake is allowing both the software (Lightroom) AND the printer manage color AT THE SAME TIME. You also need to insure that you have the correct paper settings in your software and that you are using the correct color profile (ICC Profile) for your exact ink set, printer and paper. It can be frustrating setting this all up and getting it all right, but once you do it, and get the hang of it, it will become second nature. Best of luck.

Try this; Download the test print below. Open the image in Photoshop. Don't make any adjustment. go to print. Turn off color management in the printer settings. Tell the printer that photoshop will manage colors and set the paper profile. You should use glossy paper for this test. Now print and compare the image to the screen. They should look nearly alike even if the printer manages colors. It should be noted the even when the monitor is calibrated and the test print looks good, you can have color problems.

I have a beautiful photo of wild horses on the run. I've photo-shopped the background into a warm dirty white like dust. People want to buy a print of this image, but I've turned them down because the background always comes out gray. I've tried different adjustments, gamut changes, different papers and three printers to no avail. Is it a color that the printer can't handle or my lack of skills? Probably the second.

I had a similar problem recently. Took out all the pigment ink cartrdges from the Epson P 800 gave them a shake and replaced them. Then did a deep clean and alignment check, made the necessary adjustments restarted the printing process from Photoshop Manages Colours. All perfect.
