eBay lenses - Hong Kong/Far East Supplers - Are these real or knock-offs?

I'm looking to buy some lenses and I have seen lenses on eBay for my new Olympus OMD EM1 mk ii camera for an upcoming photography adventure.

There are several eBay Far East suppliers all essentially selling these NEW lenses, but are about 25-30% lower than the lenses we buy in the U.S.

Are these REAL lenses?

Are the prices too good to be true?

Has anyone used used these eBay suppliers before?

I want to make sure I'm getting a good lens and not a poor knockoff.

Help! I'm really a novice to eBay lens shopping.

Thank you in advance for your continued wonderful advice!

Though the prices may be too good to be true, I don't think I've actually ever heard of a knock-off lens.
They are imports for sure(grey market) but they are the same lens.
If they are expensive you may want to inquire about warranty work, or the lack of it, if that's important to you?!
For confidence, check the sellers ratings! Good luck!!

most that I've dealt with have been dependable. my only mishap was a camera that had been programed in Japanese. a few days with an English manual, and I figured out how to set iot up for my use.

Lots of dealers and lots of choices. DigitalRev has been around for a long time, and they have a good reputation. They used to have a popular YouTube channel - maybe still do. Take a look at recommendations below.

In the UK we might have to pay duty bringing the price up.They are usually genuine but forget about warranty.

Add customs duty fee in the USA to your purchase.

It's actually very difficult to make lens knocked off. If you make it so we can't tell by looking at the lens it must cost you more than the the cost of the genuine lens.
You can do that with hand bag, clothing etc.. but not cameras and lenses.

I have ordered used and new Canon lenses from Japan and China and I was pleased with my purchases! The orders took longer -- abt. two or three weeks. I order from the states if I find what I want. Also, the newer lenses first comes out in China or Japan ex. Yongnuo 100mm f/2 prime, etc. Sometimes , if you pay more, the products arrive as fast as if ordered in the US. I am pleased with the products!

It depends. Last year I order a $900 lens from a concern in Hong Kong. They sent a similar lens worth perhaps $450. That’s when the fun began. I said they sent the wrong lens, they said send it back, at my cost, and they would see. After a couple of weeks of talking contract law with the vender and E-bay, the vendor recanted and sent their UPS number. It turned out to be a bad number. More emails and time finally got me the correct UPS number.

Guess what it cost the vendor for normal return shipping from Montana to Hong Kong. --- $217.35

Anytime you see a disclaimer that the buyer pays return shipping for defective items or wrong items, find out what it costs to send it back.

Nikon factory service ( California and New York) will not service or repair Nikon products that NikonUSA did not import into the USA> Some of the independent repair facilities will service Nikon products. The Nikon international warranty requires the USA owner to send the product back to Japan for service; don't know about other countries or Canon, etc.

There has been a lot of discussion on this site about grey market equipment that has convinced me not to touch it. But there are a number of ways to save money without going to the grey market.
