The last two weeks have been interesting.

I started to feel...off within two hours after punching in at work two Fridays ago. Spoke to my boss and returned to my desk to punch out and set my out of office message for outlook. Turned to say goodbye to a friend and then I was on the floor; everything was grey. I have a high desk with a tall chair and the chair must have hit me on the way down. Tried to get up and fell back, hitting my head on the desk and wall. Lay under the desk twitching for a few minutes.
I--stupidly--opted not to go to the ER and since I had the van, the wife took a cab to my office and drove me to see my PCP.

Over the weekend, I couldn't get out of bed with out everything going gray. Wife tried to keep me in bed, but I'm a stubborn guy. Had about 10 falls on Saturday.

She took me to the ER on Monday--I fell in the elevator.

I was admitted for observation which turned into a three day stay. They gave me a walker to use, but every time I was up for more than five minutes, I'd hear a ringing in my ears, feel what can only be described as explosions in my brain and the world would go gray.

I used to walk 7 or more miles a day. I can now go about half a mile, but I have to take a nap after I'm done.

On Wednesday I'm going to the cardiac clinic to pick up a 15 day monitor.

Just to keep my sanity, I've started trying more advanced projects with my cell phone--I'm attaching one of my images. Image quality is a far cry from the D7100 I gave up, but I did quite a bit of damage to my shooting arm and sometimes a glass of water is too heavy.

I pray all goes well for you. Your wife married a slow learner. Take care of yourself and listen to your wife.

Getting old was so much easier when we were young.

Absolutely true. After two tours in Vietnam I never thought I would make it past 20. Now here I am at 71 with no idea of what to do when I grow up.

Stay safe. Sit in a comfy chair with a bag of chips and a beer. But truely, stay safe and find out whats going on.

Dennis2146 - I spent 6 1/2 yrs in Vietnam and still haven't wanted to grow up either.

Sounds like your heart is going a little wacko. I know the feeling, I've been fighting arrhythmias for years. I can't tell you how many times they have had to shock me back into sinus rhythm (at least 14). For me it's getting to the point that I can tell the resident doctors how to do it. I'm at a point of two choices now, neither one I like; a medication and pace maker. I've tried different meds and they all made me worse than being in the arrhythmia which is miserable for me so I'm hoping one of these two work. From what you described sound like you have the opposite problem that I have which is to much electrical stuff going on in my heart. You have to little and a pace maker would be a great help to you. Good luck.

That fun shot you took with the cell phone shows that your body needs to catch up with the brain ... the brain is having a great time and trying to tell the body to get with it ...hope they diagnose your condition and you get back to your awesome self ...😎😎😎👍

Right! Better ER than deceased. Several famous people died in the past few years because they thought they would be okay. I'm thinking of Steve Allen who bumped his head in a car accident and Natasha Richardson, who bumped her head while skiing.

I hear you. Thanks for your service and I am glad you came back safely. When the time comes we will all figure out what we want to do. For the time being, with experience in the USMC, LEO and corrections I am pretty secure in the belief that I did my part. I, as well as you and thousands of others, have seen more than anybody should ever have to look at in a lifetime. Now I want to relax, fill my freezer from hunting and fishing, take photographs and see some places.

I am not a physician. But My career was as a Technical Services specialist, for a medical device company. With your tachyarythmia (to rapid heart beat) you need a PICD-- combination pacer, implantable defibrillator. The survival statistics are overwhelmingly in favor of a device vs medical management. So much so, that studies evaluating the efficacy of a device compared to medical management had to be halted because it was considered a risk to the life of the patients to deny an implantable. While I can't make a diagnosis. or give any medical advice--Find a competent Cardiologist and get a complete electro-physiology work up. Your life just may depend upon it. BTW after a syncopal (passing out) episode, I had a pacemaker implanted. DO IT.

Thank you all for you kind(and in some cases humorous) replies.

I'm now on day 3 of 30 with a holter monitor. I'm mostly fine if I just lie in bed. Sitting up sometimes causes issues, but walking is a killer.

I get light-headed, start to sweat and feel strange pain in the hands and feet that spreads if I don't sit back down. I am pushing myself to walk, but I am not allowed to walk alone. And I doubt that I'll make it back to the 7+ miles I was walking every day.

I pray all goes well for you and you can get back to normal. It amazes me that so many people are told they will never get out of bed again, walk again, whatever the doctors tell them. Many of those people are up and running marathons, working every day and so on though maybe slower and not for so many hours a day. I am a firm believer that we can pretty much do what we tell our mind we will do. I think you are one of those people as well.

Thanks for keeping us informed. We are interested and want the best for you and your family.
