I just purchased Adobe CC for Photographers ( the $9.99 plan) I was old by someone that if you cancel after a year Lightroom remains functional but not photoshop- is there any validity to this ?? Ive trierd searching but cant seem to find anything on this ............ doesn't seem logical to me.........

If you get the standalone Lightroom module ($149) it will always be functional. You will receive updates until the next major release (current is 6 with 7 probably coming out this fall) is available but even when the new updates stop, you can still use lightroom.

I had PS CC for a while and let it lapse. The PS quit working, but I was still able to use the LR feature. The 'develop' module did NOT work though. However I was able to use it in conjunction with 1on1's 'perfect suite 9' and 'RAW' programing, (but with those programs LR isn't needed at all), but since then I have gone back to the PS CC with LR and that also includes Bridge, free updates on all programs, posting to web pages, and sharing with all your devices. Spend the 10 bucks and keep the system.....Just my 2 cents

You are purchasing a monthly use license after the last month you pay for it doesn’t function anymore.
B&H sometimes offers a yearly subscription to Adobe CC for the price of 9 months of the monthly.

Now THAT is worth looking into. Adobe should offer a discounted annual rate. I'll check it out.

Right now B&H offers a 12-month plan for 119.88/yr which is EXACTLY 9.99/mo. I didn't see a discount at Adobe for committing to an annual membership. That's OK. $10.59/mo with tax is still a deal!!

Is it supported and up-gradable?

Yes and yes.

Regular updates are provided periodically for Lightroom 6, though it seems to be a bit slower than Lightroom CC gets them.

Used to be Adobe only sold "full versions" of LR... There were no upgrades. One price.

But, if you buy direct (download) from the Adobe website, LR6 is available as a less expensive upgrade version. Something like $95, versus $142, last time I looked.

It's not advertised anywhere and is kind of hidden like Adobe doesn't want you to know about the lower-priced option. During the purchase process, before completing, there's a pull-down menu in the online "shopping cart" where the upgrade is offered. I think it was limited to registered LR5 owners (such as me), but might be available to LRCC users too.

Oh, and supposedly the upgrade is single computer only (normal full priced version is licensed for two or three computers, I think). However, when I look at my Adobe account, LR6 shows as a multi-computer version even tho I bought it as the upgrade.

I took advantage of the B&H deal mentioned above by Ronald540. B&H seems to run it around Thanksgiving and maybe one or two other times a year. If you already subscribe to the CC Photographer's plan, the purchase adds 12 months to your subscription paid in one lump rather than monthly.

And in regard to what continues to function if you stop your subscription, yes I believe that PS stops completely while in LR the Develop and Map modules stop working. However, any adjustments you have made to your existing photos still exist. You just can't do any more with them or to new images.
