Police say sorry to driver for blowing up his car
UK, Cumbria Police has apologised to the owner of a car that was mistakenly destroyed by its officers outside their station in Workington.
A bomb disposal team was called when the silver Vauxhall Corsa was discovered in the early hours of Thursday.
A controlled explosion took place shortly after 8am.
It emerged later, however, that other officers had parked the car at the police station because its owner had been taken ill elsewhere in the town.
Inspector Ashley Bennett said: "The constabulary is not complacent regarding incidents of public safety.
We have made contact with the owner of the vehicle, explained the situation and have apologised to him".

An apology! I wonder why they thought it was a threat.
I doubt police in this country would be so quick to apologize, but maybe they would. I read a similar story about a businessman's briefcase being blown up.

I don't think criminals are quick to apologize.

That's what I'd like to know. Probably the used-car value, if anything. If this happened in the USA, there would be a huge lawsuit.
