Can any of you good folk explain why above lense i just acquired auto focuses perfectly on my Nikon D7200 and won't on my D3200? I wanted to keep my most used lense Tamron 150-600 on the 7200 and use the Macro on D3200. Regards, Tom.

I don't know this lens but it sounds like it relies on the camera body to have a AF motor. The 7200 does the 3200 doesn't.

Your D3200 does not have an internal motor for the lens in the camera. The D7200 does have internal lens motor built in the camera.

Good Luck

You must have bought this lens used?
The current version of the Sigma 105mm macro lens is an HSM lens which would AF on your D3200 just fine. If your lens is not HSM then, as already stated, it will not AF on that body.

Indeed it is the previous version. I read reports the newer version with O/S was a bit noisy whilst focusing. Not sure now i have not made a mistake.

Macro work is best done with manual focus anyway. Closeup work in many cases works well using auto focus where you have decent depth of field to work with.

Manual focus with auto assist is desirable, if your system supports it. The 3200 class cameras don't.
