Are you saying that Paint Shop Pro corrupts the other photo manipulation programs? If so, THANK YOU as I was thinking of downloading the trial.

I currently use GIMP, DxO, On1/On1 Photo Raw and Portrait Pro. I tried LR/PS CC and Capture One the ones I kept do everything as well or better for less money.

Did you accidentally download the wrong version, or get a corrupted copy. I have never had a problem like that and I started out using Corel Draw in the 90s and then switched to Paint Shop Pro when I retired and didn't need to produce AV stuff for the classroom (cheaper too, esp after losing my educators discount).

I have been using it for about 15 years now, multiple versions and editions, I have never had it take over other apps.
Something is wrong/corrupted, settings off etc.

Corrupted download??? Uninstall, including the download file and then download a fresh copy and reinstall. Contact Corel before you do it.

I have it, and a whole lot more photo editing SW and there are no problems whatsoever. I seldom use though. Much prefer Lightroom/Photoshop plus all the plugins.

I am running Paintshop Pro X9 Ultimate (both 32 bit and 64 bit versions) along with a dozen other programs on the same computer (two different installations). One is on a laptop running Windows 8.1 and the other is a home built zinger running Windows 10. I have experienced zero problems with either computer. PSP X9, Aftershot Pro 3, and Faststone Image Viewer make an amazing combination with Paintshop Pro X9 running Topaz, NIK, Redfield, and any other photoshop compatible dot 8bf plugins. AKVIS also work. After many years of running Paintshop Pro (from JASC Version 7 through PSP X9) I certainly would not think about lightroom and photoshop now. PSP is very reliable and capable. I would highly recommend removing the installation, downloading another copy, and reinstalling. Have a GREAT DAY!

I use x9 and GIMP with no problem. I also have a bunch of other things like FastStone and FotoMatix that aren't affected. Apparently something got screwed up when you installed it, but no one can tell from this what it was.

If you are running Win10, try going back to the restore point and starting over with a clean copy of x9.

Been using PaintShop Pro X9 on Windows 10 for over 7 months now, absolutely zero issues. Recommend an uninstall and a re-install.

Plus it is almost unheard of software preventing you from running another program. It might be that you photo files are now associated with PaintShop Pro and when you double click on photos PSP open, because it has been associated with that file type. If that is the case all you have to do is re-associate the file type with whatever file you want to open the file by default. Just do an internet search on "How to associate a file with a program in Windows". This is a very common thing in Windows and super easy to deal with.

If this is not the issue then I can provide better assistance if you gives me more detail on exactly what you are trying to do.

I actually have very little experience with Photoshop (so really can't comment on way the other on Photoshop). I used Serif PhotoPlus for a few years (which was pretty good), and then decided to switch (mainly because PhotoPlus did not support Adobe brushes). I did a ton of research (Youtube videos, etc...) and PaintShop Pro came out on top in my search in terms of "value", and it supports Adobe brushes. It is very, very feature rich for the price -- and yes -- I'm also one of those people not keen on Adobe's $10 a month subscription model. $10 isn't bad -- but if you do the math it adds up. While you can easily get a copy of PaintShop Pro X9 off the internet for around ~$50 (perpetual licensing model). I tend to upgrade my software around once every three years -- so the perpetual licensing model is much less expensive, given my buying habits, i.e. $50 versus $360 in this comparison.

PaintShop Pro is one of those great alternatives to Photoshop if you don't buy into Adobe's subscription model -- and I don't.

Been using PaintShop Pro for several years now, and am pretty good with, and haven't run into anything that Photoshop can do that PaintShop pro can't. Like Photoshop, PaintShop Pro has a very friendly community. Not as many people use PaintShop Pro (compared to Photoshop) but the community is great.

I've heard Affinity is another really good piece of photo editing software, and I like Serif (they make good software), so that might be worth trying.

Well, PaintShop Pro would be the only alternative to PS that I would consider. I am in my mid 70s and so I will never live long enuf to learn all this stuff anyways.
