I have the latest CC and when I bring a photo from LR into PS (or straight into PS) it has the corner pick points enabled at least to view. Doesn't matter what tool I choose. I try to deselect but that option is greyed out, unless I choose the transform tool. Then I can deselect and it does but the pick points remain. When I switch layers the pick points change to the selected layer. I really don't want to reset all the tools as I have a lot of them set at a point that works for me. I use the photography and video work spaces but the PP remain. Anyone have any ideas on this one? It doesn't cause any problems and I've been working with it for some time now, just thought some UHHer might guess the right answer.

The points appear when you open an image with active layers. I still use CS6. If I save an image as a TIFF or PSD with layers it will always open with the points in the corner. If you flatten the image, the points disappear. Is this what you are asking about?

It could be a layer issue. Try going to the layer at the top of the screen and in the drop down box see if either the merge layers or flatten image is highlighted, if so just click on it and you will be able to use your tools.

What kind of pick points?
Are the points solid white squares or open white square (no fill, just the white border)?
Are they joined by a thin white solid line (as you would get if you chose the Transform tool?
Are they joined by a thin dashed line (as you would get if you selected all then chose Transform Selection?

It is a tif image with just a single locked layer when opened. I duplicate and add other layers but always the PP are showing.

I have no problem using any tools on any layer. I just can't seem to remove those PP that apparently do nothing.

Will answer in detail later when I am at home. But they do look like the transform tool. Now that I think of it, the problem started when I was doing a time-lapse and resizing/transforming multiple frames to a 16:9 format. Last night I did switch from the video work space to photography work space but the PP remained.

Thanks, I have read your tip but will reset all as a last resort. I am sure it is just one little tick hidden away somewhere.

Hey folks, I found the culprit. With the move tool selected there was a tick in the Show Transform Controls. I un-ticked it and the PP disappeared in all tools. Many thanks to all who answered.
