My Pentax SLR ( film) bit the dust. I saw the K100D used on sale. I know that I can use the 3 manual lens I have, on it The camera only has 6 megapixels. Does anyone have any feedback on it? Thank you for your help
If you have never had a digital camera before you should google about megapixels. And then google the difference between crop vs full frame cameras. That camera is really ancient in the digital world.

I do have digital cameras. Cannon, Nikons and a old HP. I am only looking for a body for my lenses. Thanks for your info...
Thanks. I will get it... I hope that I can use 1 or both flash I have.
I've never owned a K100 D but it did get pretty good reviews...ten years ago. If your only looking for a body to go with your lens, I'm sure you can find a body that's a little more up to date than the K100 D unless your getting a very good price, if you are...go for it.
i also bought a used like new pentax 6.1 MP [ ist D s ] to use my old M mount lenses , nothing wrong there , nice pictures .i use it also at time with T mount lenses , in auto mode it expose the shots right .nikon D70 does not . the only gripe , the focusing glass is not as good as on a nikon .
I bought a K-100D used back in 2010 and it was my first DSLR. Wonderful color and easy to use. Eventually I sold it and moved to K-x, now K-50 I'd make sure condition is good and shutter count is reasonable. You may want to visit pentaxforums.com and there's lots of info. Many still use this camera.

It is older technology, but it works. 6mpxl is a low number, but many great images have been taken with it. I had a Fuji bridge camera with 6mpxl and could still print great 16x20s. Too bad about the Pentax film camera. I've had a couple including my early (1959) Asahi Pentax.
I thank all of you for your feedback...

I transitioned from Pentax SLRs (Spotmatics, SF1n, Dx5l, etc.) to the istDL, then upgraded to a K10D, a K20D, a K7 and K5, which I am currently using. I have produced numerous 18x24s from the 6mp ist DL and they're great. The advantage to more MPs is that you can crop images more and still be able to produce great enlargements. Unless cost is no factor, I would look for a good, low shutter count K5 or K5II and go with that. All your Pentax lenses will work along with camera-body IS.

Just curious, when you say that your K1000 died, it makes me think that you were still using it. Why not get another one? you can find them all day long on ebay for less than $100.
I have one (along with 3 Nikon SLRs) that I still enjoy shooting with.
