Pearl Street Mall. Boulder, Colorado
I use to shoot nothing but wildlife. I then bought a 24-105 mm L lens. My rule for my self is, if I buy a new lens, I have to use it exclusively for a month. I posted a few landscape on this site, to good reviews. This is my first attempt at street photography. I am beginning to really like this lens.
You have some interesting people there. I'd hate to run into the top one after sunset.

That is a focal length range that certainly leads to the kind of photography that is most enjoyed in this section! Those are technically well executed and fascinating pictures.
There is one problem though. The last image is Street Photography, but the others are not. Street doesn't include anything "staged". Hence performers, while performing, amount to Event Photography but not Street Photography. If they are not actually performing, for example if you get candid shots before or after, that can be Street!
It is still nice that you posted them here! Discussion is just as important as images, and any image that a poster wants to discuss in the context of Street is very welcome. So now the question is what do you feel about the images, individually and as a set? Did the focal length range bring you too close or put you too far away? Will you likely aim that lens at other things in the future, or tend back towards wildlife or landscapes? And how are you affected by the distinction between Event Photography and Street Photography in terms of interest in and selection of a subject?
I like the shots. I figured these people were on the street, hence street photography. I find myself keeping my 24-105 lens on, more and more.
I found a really nicely priced 1ds mark ii, that may turn into my camera for that lens. I am thinking of putting two bags together. A wildlife and a landscape/ street bag.
I have a 50 mm and a really old 100-300 mm L lens. which would be fine for landscapes. It may be old but it is still has L quality. With the 24-105 that should cover what I need. Although, one can always find a reason for more lenses.
I am not going to limit myself to one style of photography. At first I thought, I might be to shy/ insecure to even attempt shooting strangers. I got over that real quick. I am going to keep on, keeping on. No matter the category. I will take pictures to please me, if others like them cool. Everyone likes a pat on the back. But it is really all about me.
Thanks for the looks and the replies. Tom
First and foremost your shots show variety and are mostly interesting. Take away the entertainers and we likely don't have an interesting subject matter.
I'm on board with the general guidelines of the group. With that said I often see walk up snapshots that don't have an interesting focal point. My opinion. Your first shot is intriguing.
The last shot of the lady with bandanna is shot at the standard walk up angle and does not "tell a story". As mentioned this is "street photography" by definition.
Im find myself going back to shot 1 and reviewing the composition, lighting and use of space. Well done.
Bob.
My opinion.
