Nikon D5

I've been A Nikon shooter since 1970, and I own A Nikon D800 at present, that I purchased new.And I own the holy trinity of Nikon lenses and then some.... I"m think about upgrading to a Nikon D5, or should I wait for its successor ?? what are your thoughts??

Only you can answer that! What can the D5 do that theD800 cannot? What kind of shooting do you mostly do?

Google Nikon D5 reviews, better yet, go the B&H and read the reviews of actual users, not "I don't have one but here is my opinion" that you find here.

There are rumors that the replacement for the D810 should be out soon. The D5 is a different type of camera than what you've been shooting with.

I think the D5 will be around for a couple more years. Buy it, you'll like it.

I enjoy doing nature shots, travel shots..and various other types of photography..cruise shots etc.

You do travel and cruise shots and you want one of the heaviest camera's made, interesting.

D5 and D750 shooter opinion
It's heavy and you must have a Black Rapid sling (or the like) if you intend to carry this for any length of time
Fastest and most accurate focus system I have ever used.
12FPS is fantastic
High ISO performance is excellent
Image quality is excellent
If money is no issue, get it!
I needed High ISO performance, 12 FPS and I wanted an FX body. It's perfect for me!
Recommendation: If you do not shoot sports, I would hold out for the replacement to the D810 in FX. If you don't mind a DX body, then the D500 could be a nice alternative.

I agree with you, I have been using a Black Rapid Sling for quite sometime, my question is, how much difference is there between a D800 and a D5.??

I use a D810 (that replaced a D800) and a D5. The D810 gets used perhaps 4x more often than the D5. But if I could only have one camera it would be the D5. That said, there is no reason that your usage would be the same as mine...
If you shoot sports or wildlife the D5 is your dream come true. For most landscape or portrait work the D810 is better. For typical walk-around photography the D810 is usually better, except the D5 a more rugged camera for offroad adventures. For pure photo journalism go with a D5, but if fine art is the target use a D810.
It is your decision as to what you need.
