Getting to bite the bullet and order the Canon 5D IV. Questions for you owners, what size memory cards do you use and why, card speeds and how do you configure the two-card set up? I shoot mostly wildlife, landscape, kids sports, some macro and family & friends. Don't do much video. Thanks in advance.

I've been shooting Lexar 32GB CF 1066x and SD 1000x cards. But I've been filling them too fast so my next cards will be Lexar 64GB cards.

I have mostly 32 Gb Lexar SDs and, since I shoot RAW, I configure slot 1 to be prime and slot 2 to be overflow

For what it's worth -- I shoot with a Canon 5DS & use two in-camera SanDisk cards -- CF 64gb (120mb/s) & a SD64gb (95mb/s) --- With a grand total of a little over 1700 raw files --- My reasoning is with a total of 4 cards that gives me a GT of 3,400 raw photos which hopefully should be more then enough to handle any 2wk vacation trip away from my PC

Exactly the same.
2 64G Lexar 1066 CFs. These are the fastest CFs in the 5DIV. (Google it)

I shoot a Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB CF card with a read speed of up to 160mb/s and a write speed of up to 150mb/s

I wouldn't use anything larger than 32 GB. The reason is, when you lose a 64 GB card you have lost twice what you would have lost if you were using a 32 GB card. Also, every so often a card goes bad and you have lost everything you have, Good luck!

Of course that is not an issue for those of us with dual card slots since we can set it up to have an immediate backup of every image we take. For others, I agree it's more problematic, but in all the years I've be shooting I've only had one card fail, and it was an off brand SD model.

Me too... I use a bunch of smaller cards, rather than just one or two really big ones. I'd rather not "put all my eggs in one basket".... And it only takes a few seconds to swap out cards.

Over the years I've had two cards fail completely and twice had cards get corrupted. Knock on wood, I've never lost a card or put one through the laundry (but I know folks who've done both!)

I use cards that can accommodate between 250 and 500 RAW apiece. Sharing them among three cameras, I currently work with fifteen 16GB cards and a half dozen 32GB.... Reasonably fast memory cards are pretty cheap these days. Some days I shoot 2000, 3000 or more images.

With a 30MP 5DIV I'd probably use the same 16GB and/or 32GB cards. I believe it generates RAW files from about 45 to 50MB in size. So a 16GB card should handle around 325 to 375 RAW files, while a 32GB card should accommodate between 650 and 750 RAW files... Very approx., of course, since there's a lot of variation depending upon subject detail, ISO and other factors.

Mostly I just shoot with a single card in my cameras (not a 5DIV yet, but other models with dual slots). Occasionally, when I want to be especially safe and secure, I will save same files to both cards. Or, at times I'll save RAW to one and JPEG to the other card, when I know I'll need JPEGs for immediate use (although most of the time I only shoot RAW). Least often, but on rare occasion I've used the second card for overflow, so that I didn't need to pause to swap in a fresh card. So, basically, how I use the dual slots greatly depends upon the shooting situation and I change it as needed.
