Thanks photoguy.... i am learning and still have a long way to go .. we all have to start somewhere.

All of theses photos had fences and objects in the background which i have tried to take out and leave no trace of.

Any suggestions on how i can improve would be greatly apreciated Please

I'm not that familiar with equine photography but it looks like you are on a great start. There are other here who have more experience with this type of photography. I will see if I can find the names so I can get them to you.

Nice shots, in shooting this type of shots you will always have stuff in the back ground, in your shots they are not distracting to me since the back ground is out of focus and the horse is sharp. Good job.

Hello again magicunicorn,
Will you look at that,.... nice nice job,...You've simplified your background,..no clutter as your other images that I commented on previously,...you filled the frame nicely,...the attitude and stance of the horse is again greatly improved from before,...your timing looks very good also. The viewers eye is now drawn to the horse and rider as it should be.

If I had to make any suggestion on these images,...it might be to maybe verbally engage the rider a little bit. A few positive words as your photographing. encouraging words so as to relax her expression a little bit,...you do not want to break her concentration on what she is doing. but..let her know how great she looks thru the camera,..how much she will love the images (that your helping her make)..
Example,...
Very nice Mary,...your looking very good,..can we see a little smile next time you ride by me,....That's it Mary,....thats nice,....lets have another one just like that,..very good,.....one more time looking this way,....perfect,..thats it, thank you Mary,... you look great riding Ginger, Mary,...you both look so natural,

Something like that while your working with her or anyone actually.
Spread out the conversation slowly,...your positive comments should reinforce her confidence resulting in more spontaneous expressions.

Also similar positive comments might be in order if her riding posture, clothing, or something requires a bit of adjustment.
You'll know about that as you gain experience,...

Eventually,...the riders you photograph will look up to you,...knowing your keen eye and suggestions will result in great images of them.
The resulting images will definitely be ones they will want to have,...you will have contributed to that greatly

It's about this time that you have business cards printed up,....and make sure they are with you ALL THE TIME,....always have a showcase folio of sample photographs of all the pleased riding customers you've photographed.

One last thing,...portraits of the riders horses,...full length, close up head images, from an angle/ both sides,..in their stall, being groomed, playing or interacting with other horses, with their owners,or riders,...in a coral or pasture, and so on. These and many other personal images of owners horses would be cherished by anyone,

So,.... sounds like a plan,...what d' ya think?????

Keep in touch as you progress,.post some more work too...I will be learning with you now,..,.....most of all have fun with it,..it'll be contagious for everyone concerned.
Best regards from downeast Maine.
Martys

Thank you Martys for your kind words. All the photos had an arena fence and 44 gallon drums and flags in them so i tried to photoshop them out.

I hear everything you have said about engaging the rider in conversation and think its a great idea... here she did not know i was takiing photos as she was demonstrating in front of a big group.

Getting cards and a folio made up at this early stage is a flattering suggestion but i am not sure if my photography is up for that at this stage.
Here is one of the photos that i have not p shopped before posting just to give everyone an idea of where it all started.
Again thank you for your encouragement and kind words i will give the cards and folio a lot of thought.
Much apreciated

I really like these magicunicorn, beautifully sharp and pleasing to my , albeit untrained, eye. I'm just about to go to my 1st horse show tomorrow to practise what I've learned in an online course which I've just completed -I'll be happy if they're anywhere as good as these. I look forward to seeing more from you
