We got rained out today so we decided to make a run over to the beach and see what was shakin. This is "Big Red" the resident Reddish Egret. He was doing a little hunting in the rain. He is one of my favorite birds to shoot. Cannot think of a better way to spend a rainy day. Ft. DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg, Florida @ North Beach near the Lemonade Stand.
Checking for lice.
Snagged a little snack.
Headed to shore for a little snack.
Shaking off the rain.
Big Red's Girlfriend - White Morph
Awesome, Big Red is a handsome fella, but his gal is a beauty!
She is the White Morph of a Reddish Egret. They have been together now for two different seasons. Unusual to see the White Morphs. There are actually two pairs at this park. They all are really hams and love the camera.
Very cool! She is still a beauty.... what do the kids look like?

Never seen any. I don't know if they hide them until they are big or what. I have not seen any photos by others of them either. One of life's little mysteries I guess.
This is what we have come to expect from you. Stunning photos, as usual! Looks like Big Red combed his hair (after #2) to make himself handsome for Snow White.

I use a Canon 7D and a Canon 100/400 IS Lens. The settings were all over the place because it was raining & then sunshine and he would be stationary & then flying so it was constantly changing. The ISO was at 400 and most of the time the shutter was @ 1/750.
well done you are very talanted
#3 is brilliant especially the devilish glint in the eye and the look of smugness at bagging breakfast.
=:~)
Focus that way because that's where I'm headed.
   Very nice captures
