Advice wanted on buying a canon 5d Mark IV

After waiting for over a year & after much research, primarily on UHH, I'm finally able to trade up from a T5i to a 5D Mark IV. My question relates to price. I almost always buy from B&H or Adorama. However, B&H, Canon, Amazon & Adorama list the camera at $3,499. On the other hand two EBay sites list the camara for less. Deals-all-year at $3,074.99 & Buy-direct at $3,224. I don't want to pinch the last penny but a couple of hundred bucks is nothing to sneeze at. Any advice?

Stick with those you know. B&H, Adorama, KEH, etc
Low-ball prices are almost Always Gray Market with no (or very limited) US warranty
Just wondering - - Why the move to Full-Frame ?
If your lenses are not EF - Full Frame (required by the 5D), they won't work on the 5D
BOTH the EF-S lenses for AP-C sensors EF lenses will work on the Crop bodies (like your T5i)

Larry, there is a difference between buying smart and pinching pennies. Adorama and B&H are very reputable merchants. You know where to go if and when a problem arises. Amazon and EBay do not share that reputation.

I followed the advice here on UHH and first invested in glass. So I have two L lens. I shoot grandkids sports, landscape, street photography & anything else that catches my interest. I know that the Mark IV is the right camera for me.

When spending thousands for a camera, I would certainly spend a few hundred more and buy from a nationally known, reputable dealer. And, no matter how you look at it, the 5D Mark IV is head and shoulders above the T5i...good luck with your new camera.

I don't know your situation but do you need the full frame , are you enlarging small sections of a picture to another picture, or pixel peeping ff not to There is no advantage , to that camera ,as the crop camera will make a just as good enlargement up to at least 10x8 or more , not to mention the saving on other gear , down loading those pic memory in computer , printer photo copper etc , if you need it .
Go for it , the D500 is as close to the d 800 is in a normal size print as I'm sure canon is with there top crop camera is also

Most Excellent - - and a wise choice then.
Just another thought - - depending on the urgency of the pending purchase, you might hold back hoping for a holiday sale or rebate coupon ?
BUT - - I know that once afflicted with GAS - - the ONLY cure comes in a brown truck

I have the Mark IV from B&H. Did a LOT of research. Am adding my voice to those who warned about gray market. I checked with Canon to see who were the authorized dealers. Every single shop who discounted was NOT on the Canon authorized list which voids the warranty.

BTW, I LOVE my Mark IV! Gave my 6-month-old Mark III to my hubby and he is happy as a clam.

Deals of the year and the others are selling grey market product, I subscribed to Canon Price Watch who are only supposed to send alerts on USA warranted products and they are sending alerts for $3099. I can tell you that I was able to purchase through Greentoe from Adorama for $3199, the thing about Greentoe is that all vendors are supposed to sell only USA product but you do not know who might accept your offer, I did not know it was Adorama until after the deal was agreed to on both ends.

You may want to research them a little bit before buying just to make sure that they are reputable, I have never purchased from them.

Have you tried the Canon Refurbished Website? They warrant any purchase for 1 year. I just bought a 7D Mark II from an Ebay seller. It is a grey item, no USA warranty, I bought a Square Deal 2 year warranty for $140. Good luck!

Here's what to do...
Buy from one of the big guys. Then return it.
Then buy from the less expensive retailers on ebay or wherever.
If you have a warranty problem - you now have a receipt from B&H or Adorama.

I know - many people are thinking that this not right, unethical, etc etc etc ......
But you know what ?? ...... There is nothing wrong with this.
What is not right is the games these camera manufacturers play with their warranties - for reasons I cant figure out.
There is no such thing as a fake Canon5d. If Canon made it - they should warranty it. It shouldnt depend on where you bought it.
This is all a game by the photo manufacturers to effectively support a price fixing scheme - which we all know is illegal.

If you bought a one year old car from a used dealer, is it still under warranty? of course. Because a warranty is a warranty. The auto companies do not play with the price fixing games that these camera manufacturers all take to an absurd new level.

Use Greentoe. I saved three hundred dollars and it came from a reputable dealer. Since the I have bought two more lenses with large savings.

Best advice I can think of is to email: Helen@adorama.com......include links to where you've seen the prices for less and I'll see if there is anything I can do to help.
