On the edge for which to buy for a trip to Kauai later this summer to replace my older lx3. (My Pentax also goes but not used exclusively). Anybody have any thoughts? I have been researching these for a few months now.
Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Pentax makes great glass. I have one I 'beat up' when I go hunting here in Pennsylvania. It uses film but I have a stockpile of Velvia which, though out of date, to date still produces great images. The only problem now is finding someone to process it.

I have the LX 10 which I got primarily to use indoors for close ups and near macro with a table top set up. It is so small I often stick it in my pocket when going somewhere. I was also interested in the F2.8 maximum aperture. It works well for me. It has no viewfinder.

Depending on what you are carrying with the Pentax, this might work. However, you might want to opt for something with a viewfinder and a longer lens.

My Pentax will have all my glass, maybe not the flash or 100 and 80-200; haven't decided. Took everything to Europe without problems. I noticed most of my vacation photos were with the 17-50(26-75) and 10mm(15).

The lx10 may be the closest to replace the LX3 for a 'carry about".

Thanks for the reply.

Based on this I would think the LX 10 would be a very good fit.

Your title suggests interest in the Panasonic Lumix ZS100, which I think would be a terrific camera for your Hawaii trip. It's got a 1" sensor and 250mm (35mm eq.) zoom lens. Should cover everything you'll need.

What is wrong with your LX3? Take that - you know how it works and a new camera wont be as quick in use.

Well, yes, I could do that until I can scrape up the $$$$$$ for the x100T! It's a thought that I have had for a few years now, waiting for a nice replacement.
