Low Tide - Mother Nature's Etch-a-Sketch

Some of you may be old enough to remember the Etch-a-Sketch tablet that drew graphite lines on an enclosed tablet surface as you manipulated a drawing stylus by rotating two dials. I was at Skagsanden beach in Norway on a cloudy day when I took this photo of the tide coming ashore. The undertow lifted black sand off the beach and it was churned up on the leading edge of the low tide coming ashore; it reminded me of the Etch-a-Sketch.

Beautiful shot. I've noticed tides can make interesting patterns. I should start being more attentive to them.

Thanks, it was a very flat sky at the beach, not good for traditional landscapes; I needed something interesting to point my camera at and wound up taking a series of tide coming ashore shots, i.e, when you're handed lemons, make lemonade.

Beautifully seen and photographed!

Cropping a little from bottom and right, rotating 90%, you could have a gorgeous natural abstract.

That is very different. I don't think I've ever seen beach light like that in California where I live! So cool and soft!

Linda, thank you for the cropping/rotation advise, in the next day or so I'll post another from that set with your suggestions.

It was taken about 3 hours before sunset on an overcast day, the only processing I did was a slight crop off the top edge and conversion from RAW to Jpeg. There was no filter on the lens.

It was rather unique low tide surf; I will try to post one or two of the better ones using Linda's suggested crop/rotation advise.

Yes it does, and unfortunately, I remember.

Nice patterns, leading lines, interesting, etc.
