I forgot to mention the most important point - this crude is in an area from which we already get crude, so the infrastructure should already be largely in place to move it to market.

This thread started off with a discovery in Alaska, but here are details about the vast supply believed to still be underground in the Permian Basin. Like Alaska field(s), supporting infrastructure {including pipelines} is already in place.
