Loc: Florida's East Coast
This nature preserve has been mentioned and the subject of several posts in the past few days. It is located southeast of Lakeland, Florida (about 30 minutes southwest of Orlando on I-4). It is a former ranch that was purchased for preservation, and is one of Central Florida's premier spots to see Florida nature at its best. We visited yesterday when it was cool and clear - a perfect day. This area has "all the usual suspects" (herons, egrets, and alligators), osprey, bald eagles, spoonbills, limpkins, and many more. We were fortunate enough to have an owl call out as we were walking by, so we knew he was there.
Nice pics. Really like the trail. But how on earth do y'all live with those floating mankillers?
Good job Doc! You can see why I like that place so much because it has it all without having to cover much ground(ie Merritt Is). The oak trees and Spanish moss are so beautiful!

What a vast array of beautiful subjects. Fantastic shots. Gary
Excellent series. Well done.
I love seeing all the locals and these are very nice shots! I haven't been there but your series is tempting me!
Beautiful photos. I just love that place. Always see something.

Thanks. We never, ever, get to go swimming in any lake or pond no matter how hot it is! That is sad.
