Can anyone tell me when to use "Reply" and when to use "Quote Reply"
I'm assuming "Quote Reply" is used to reply to a Hogs comment about your post. Is that a correct assumption?
Yes. That way one can tell to whom the reply was made.

And in a group discussion, use quote reply when commenting on a single person's observation. I chuckled over one a few days ago when a comment said, "He is one of our best photographers here; I'd take his advice." Because the comment didn't use quote reply, and there were five choices of
he above, nobody knew who was being praised
It's helpful to remember that any comment you make goes to the
end of a thread; it does not go immediately below the comment you're reading and responding to, unless there are no other comments.

There are three methods available: Quote Reply / Reply / Quick Reply.

"Quote Reply" will ID the OP (Original Poster) so everyone knows who the reply is addressing.
