Newly hatched Sandhill Crane Colt - My first Youtube posting - Please check it out!

I've been watching a nesting pair of sandhill cranes for about a week. Based on information from other watchers, hatching was expected on the sixth, but came a day late.
This nest is on a tiny island in a pond in Bayport, Florida (Hernando County) and has been occupied by the same pair for several years. There were two eggs, I didn't have the time to wait for the second egg to hatch. I will return tomorrow, hopefully to see both colts cavorting around their little island.
This video was made with my Nikon D7100 and Tamron 150-600 (original version). Hope that you will watch it in its entirety and leave your comments.

Yes, but I don't suggest that you try to saddle one!
Seriously, the young are called colts - don't know why.

OMG - seriously adorable. I watched the entire video and especially enjoyed the way the colt peeked out from under mom's or dd's feathers and was framed by the legs of the other parent. Thank you for sharing this with us.

MadMikeOne, I had such a good time watching this nest and seeing that minutes-old bird that I just had to share. I am thrilled that you took the time to watch and comment.

When the colt pushed its head between the neck and the body of the adult you had to have known you hit pay dirt! That was so cool. Gary

Yes, you are absolutely correct - that was one of the cutest things. I guess lying on the adult gave support and warmth. There were places where one of the adults looked like it had a worm in its beak and the young'un looked like it tried to take it away - only minutes old!
Thanks very much for looking in and your comments.
