No, I'm not talking about heated rhetoric.

When using ON1 or Topaz Adjust, either as a plugin, or standalone, I sometimes find a preset that I like as a starting point. But it's a little too over the top, too harsh, saturated, whatever.
What I would normally do in Photoshop is put the adjustment in a layer, then dial down the opacity. Often this is very close the final effect I want.

Particularly in standalone mode, this is a cumbersome process in ON1, unless I'm doing it wrong. I go to the layers, duplicate the base layer, apply the preset, but then have to go back to develop mode to dial down the opacity. This makes it more difficult to experiment with different presets.

I guess what I want is a global effects slider that lets me dial down or up the changes applied by the preset.

Is this possible to do in a simple way?

Lightroom has Vibrance and Clarity controls. Simple sliders. Vibrance is kind of like saturation and Clarity compresses or expands the histogram to get more contrast. Don't know what ON1 has that would be similar.

What I'm really looking for is something that modulates all the changes, all at once, like stacking the changed layer on top of the original and reducing the opacity.
Which is what I guess I'll do...I wonder if I can write an action or macro in ON1 to do that?

ON1 has those individual sliders.

I believe you can do that in Quick develop in the library module of lightroom the adjustments are relative there rather than absolute.

The Topaz filters do have an opacity slider hidden in the adjustments, I think would sort those out for you.
