They are under a bridge about 50 yards away, all water in between so no getting closer. I should have had the extender on and even better (if I could afford it) an 800 mm. This a very major crop, things are starting to break down. There were a few blurs from dead ivy hanging from the bridge, I tried clone and spot healing to remove or hide those. My work will stand up to casual glance at a print on the wall but not pixel peeping or long study. I did use a denoise app, resize the final image and increase the pixel count.
I like the similar poses and the double reflections. I did a couple of seconds of slow burst, but this frame I like the best, they were moving slowly forward as they hunted, in step like a drill team.
The green water is in the shade under the bridge and the tan water is in sunlight reflecting the banks and dead vegetation of the pond on the other side of the bridge.

Lots of eye appeal here Jerry, and that's what really counts.

I'm with the Pierre, the immediate appeal is nice. Almost geometric in its conformation. And while I am not a pixel-peeper by any means, if this were mine, I'd try to get rid of the black line in the water immediately above and the right of the bird at the right (and the small black spot coming out of its tush). I'm fairly convinced this would make the birds pop even more against their brighter background.

Very good and I like the re worked one you have done with the black bits behind the birds taken out, makes them in your face with no distractions....
