Tamron or Sigma?

Greetings, I'm in the market for a 24-70 f2 lense . I have a Sony A7711. The Sony 24-70 is two grand so, I'm researching the less expensive brands. ( I know, you get what you pay for). Tamron and Sigma are in play with my selections. The reviews are all over the map. In this situation, I am requesting outside opinions (+/-) related to Tamron / Sigma quality, reliability and product support. I am most appreciative of any responses. Thanks in advance...

I would suggest getting the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8. The best are Nikon's and Canon's very best, in the 24-70mm category. I don't know much about Sony's 24-70mm lens in either A-mount, or E-mount. Your camera is an A-mount. I had an interest in this lens last year. But not so much anymore. It was going for about $1200-$1300 for brand new. Pro photographer Matt Granger of Australia, says the Tamron ranked third best on his list of 24-70mm f2.8 lenses. He also said he considered it a pro lens. It also comes with a 6 year warranty. That's good too.

Take a trip into New York and go to B&H. Try both lenses and see which one looks sharpest to you.

I just traded/bought a new Tamron 24-75mm f2.8 and have fallen in love with it. A 6 year warrantee and a tack sharp lens. I use it on my Canon 80D and just posted some of my photos I took with it yesterday, posted on Close Up Photography forum.

Sigma and Tamron are really a toss up .....

I would suggest you look at the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 Contemporary - a very good lens, more range and much cheaper !

But if he buys it there and takes it with him, he will also have to pay the sales tax. Not sure but I think I heard it's in the 10% range. If B&H doesn't collect NJ tax he could buy it and have them ship it to NJ, but in that case, why not just buy it online? They guarantee it.
