We booked into a cottage in this lovely coastal town which was established in 1891. It is famous for Southern Right Whale watching during the winter and spring June/December when they arrive to have their young.
We had regular bird visitors to the cottage for breakfast with seed to put out for them. One morning at 3am I was aware of something on my leg under the sheet and it was a mouse. It scurried off into the living room but was back on the bed 20 minutes later. After chasing it around the cottage for quite some time we eventually got it outside!
The next morning opened the door and nearly squashed another visitor. This was the closest I was going to get with the short lens, one quick shot just in case he jumped on the camera! Never a dull moment in Hermanus.

Wonderful shots, Sylvia! What a beautiful spot in which to stay, from the cottage to the bay. That spider sure is intimidating. Ugh! Regarding the mouse, I suspect he just wanted to be in a warm place! lol!

Super series, Sylvia! I enjoyed these a lot. The lighting on the spider is awesome - certainly makes it seem dangerous, though I'm sure it was just a sweetie

Sounds like the mouse was pretty intent on finding a friend, Sylvia. I'm afraid I would have had a heart attack. What a beautiful beautiful place this is! It looks like paradise, and your pictures certainly show it's charm!

Sylvia, I love sharing your adventures, but that spider did give me the creeps and the thought of a mouse being in my bed would make me jump through the roof!!!
Beautiful pictures and love the warm, tropical colors... something that I desperately need to see about now!!

Hermanus looks like a wonderful place to spend some of your vacation (except for the mouse and spider). You have captured some gorgeous scenery and a beautiful thatch roofed cottage.
