Visiting Oro Valley & Tucson area in April.Anyone know about the area and any interesting places to photograph?
We should have a fantastic wild flower season this year and Picacho Peak can be amazing!!! It's just up I-10 about 15min from Oro Valley.
Mission San Xavier del Bac, Saguaro National Park (East and West), Tumacacori National Monument (near Tubac), Madera Canyon, Sabino Canyon. Lots and lots of photographic opportunities.
I'll 2nd Sabino Canyon... keep your eye on the ground, that's where I spotted a horny toad, first one I've seen since I was a little kid living in Albuquerque, some 50yrs ago.
If you are a fan of aircraft, the Pima Air Museum is a fine place to photograph old planes. If you can gain admission to the Air Force's plane graveyard way out at the end of Speedway, it is a one-of-a-kind opportunity.
There is also a park that contains some of the best opportunities to photograph Saguaro cactus, some of which are very large (and very old).

I live in Tucson and you have had good replies! Let me know if you need any thing else.
I live in Oro Valley and can tell you that there are more things/places to photograph here than you will have time for. Just pulling to the side of the road at sunset can provide you with great opportunities for spectacular sunset photos. Saguaro Nat'l Park has many good places.....more trails in the eastern section, more isolation in the western area. The road up to the top of Mt Lemmon provides many good vistas of the desert below. Catalina State Park and Picacho Peak State Park both have a lot of photo opportunities. Sabino Canyon is beautiful but weekends there are very crowded. Park Link Rd north of Catalina is an interesting drive. A short drive to the south is the Kitt Peak observatory....very interesting if you are into the cosmos. Tombstone is touresty but interesting. Do not miss the Arizona/ Sonora Desert museum. The nearby Old Tucson movie studio is interesting and fun. Gates Pass gives good views of the desert to the west and Tucson to the east. Enjoy your time here and bring lots of memory for your camera.
