thanks for the link, the fuji fan boys almost had me convinced
they had a "better" product than my nikon dinosaurs.

Being a simple layman I look to the bottom line conclusion which doesn't seem to be favorable to The x-trans... Although Folks that have purchased the the latest models seem to really praise the IQ; go figure. Actually I really like the look that the Foveon sensor gives... beauty lies in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Good heavens! Geek pixel peeping. Can't I just look at images and decide if they're pleasing or not?

Good heavens! Pixel peeping at its worst. Can't I just decide which images are pleasing???

Pixel peeping at its worst! I think I'll just decide what pleases me - and it's never just one system.
As a certified pixel peeper i can assure you we are just as critical of the final image as we are of the gear.
I've been well paid for tens of thousands of pleasing images over my lifetime
but there are only a handful i would take any pride in claiming.

Not being critical [of you] here, but maybe you would "take pride in claiming" more of your results if you didn't pixel peep so much.
So what? The difference between the systems are so miniscule does it make any difference in the real world. By the way that's the world where you look at the shot you took and think yes not bad not the world where you scrutinise the shot to the enth degree. Too many "my camera is better than your camera" geeks on here. My camera club has a guy who wins a lot of competition's with an old Nikon D50, simply because he is a good photographer.

He does not win because his camera is "adequate";
he wins because his competition is not good enough to beat him.

Exactly my point it's not how good your camera is it's how good you are and John is a damn good photographer. Sadly a lot of club members spend thousands of pounds on the latest all singing and dancing equipment thinking it will make them better photographers, it doesn't.
